Another Visit From the Bathroom Elves

The good news is ....

My son does a fine job reaching for the bucket right before he wretches his guts out.

What Could Be Heard.....

"I can do it by the self," on helping her put her headband on.  Clearly, she could do it by the self.

"NO! I don't want a picture," when I asked her to smile for a picture for mommy.

"Bella has purple eyes?" on seeing this pic on the viewfinder of the camera.

"Ooh, look, a purple bow in my hair!" on seeing this pic on the camera.

.... the male child said nothing.

"What are you doing, Mom?"  What is this MOM stuff anyway????

Did ya miss us??

We're back!!  Without going into the details, let me just say we are enjoying the world of desktop behind a closed and child-proof door.  The photos might still be a little bit longer coming as we lost the entire month of July to the memory card demons.  Hopefully our white knight of all things computer will be able to help us, but if not (it won't be his fault and he'll still be our white knight) let me just say we lost some cute pics.  We had adventures of family vaca with Tim's family including sluicing for gems, hiking where very few 2-year-olds have been before, and eating in the dark.  What an adventure!! ;-)  Then we had pics from a trip to PA to visit my fam including shots from a farm, water balloon fun, and getting hosed by Aunt Freaky.  UGH!!  I need to stop or I'll cry.

If daddy is reading this, let me just say that we might also have lost the shots from the day Bash got his cast off.  Anywho .... looking ahead .......

So child-proofing is the title of the August '08 chapter of our lives.  Our son can get into mischief quicker than I can type this sentence.  "Bastian, where are you?  What are you doing?" can be heard nearly every 3 minutes or so in our house.  We've cleaned hair product, make-up, and nail polish all from the carpets in our house (nope, those weren't just left sitting around our house for the most part).  I have pulled 2 rolls of toilet paper out of the toilet in the last week. Hangers work wonderfully for this task, by the way.

In other news, Sophie has successfully potty-trained herself.  She only wears a diaper at night, and she woke up this a.m. with a dry one at that.  It won't be long now for her.  She's one driven little girl.  She wants to do everything by "the self."  And it's both maddening and encouraging.  I hope she continues to have that kind of a drive throughout her life.  I say she's potty training herself because from the day her two siblings told me she was going on the potty, out of the blue and of her own volition, she's been working on it ever since.  No timers, not many reminders, nothing.  She just did it.  This is one that I just can't take credit for.  A kid potty training herself.  Does that ever happen in real life???!!!  Thank you, Lord, for this blessing!

Bella is continuing in her voracity for knowledge.  She loves to learn and it really shows in her ability to understand, repeat, and interpret concepts.  She counts to ten, she's learning her alphabet, and she can sing lots of songs.  I'm not saying that she's advanced beyond other kids her age (there are probably people reading this post going "my kid could do that at 6 months or something!), I'm just saying she definitely has a thirst for learning.

I need to get pics onto this computer, but all in good time.  For now, I hope you enjoyed the update.  We're glad to be back with you.

On Borrowed Time

I'm borrowing my BIL's laptop whilst he naps! We've been away but are back, however we're having some technical difficulties. We'll get back to your regularly scheduled programming as soon as possible!
